But I like the old service! Do I have to switch?
Sorry, all Faculty and Staff must move to the new service. The new service will be even better! We promise.
Will my e-mail address stay the same?
Your email address will be username@washjeff.edu . Please discontinue using username@staff.washjeff.edu.
How will it be better?
The new service will offer new and improved Webmail access, extensive calendar functions, better spam protection, enhanced protection from outside attacks and better compatibility with mobile devices.
What can I do to prepare for the move?
Before you (or ITS) move your email to the new system take a moment (or two) to delete unwanted email messages and reduce the size of your inbox. The total size of your inbox in the new system can't exceed 3 gigabytes.
Will my emails be lost?
No, your email from the old service will be moved to the new service.
What will happen to my self-created group or distribution lists?
If you are using Outlook (not outlook express) your groups and lists will be moved to the new service. If you were using Outlook express or the Webmail service your list will not be moved and will need to be manually recreated.
How much space is available on the new service? Will I need to delete any old emails?
The new email service has a limit of 3 gigabytes per user. Most faculty and staff members are not even close to that quota. For the few users with more than 3 gb you will need to delete some emails in order to move.
Do I have to use Microsoft Outlook to access my mail?
No, the new Webmail interface offers vast improvements over the old service. Some users may decide to use Webmail exclusively.
I use a Mac, how will I be impacted?
