To connect to the internet open your web browser and try to go to any website. A registration page will load and you will need to put in your username and password. You will have had to log into a lab computer first for this to work. Wait 10 minutes and restart and your connection will be active. If you are still having trouble after this please follow the steps below
- Are you using blue port? The black port will not work.
- Are you sure your building has wireless? Click here to check the wireless map. You will need to use an Ethernet cord if wireless is unavailable.
- Try your roommate's port to see if the connection works and try a different cable. Also have your roommate try his computer in your port.
If it works in your roommate's port and not your port, Please make note of this and contact helpdesk at Helpdesk Form
We will need your room number and the port letter and if it's the top or bottom port.
- If it doesn't work in either port go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
See if the network connection is disabled. Right click on the local area connection and select enable.
If it is enabled right click on the Local Area Connection and click on Properties
Click on Internet Protocol (TCP\IP) then click on properties. Make sure it says to obtain IP and DNS settings automatically
- If none of these options worked for you please contact the Helpdesk. Please include your IP address in the email
To get your IP address click on start then run...
Type in cmd
Type in ipconfig
