The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Fellowships provide funding for doctoral students with exceptional technical talent. The foundation looks for students who will have the greatest impact applying their knowledge of the physical sciences to human problems. Fellows must be willing to morally commit their skills to the United States in time of national emergency. In addition, fellows must attend one of the foundation's designated graduate schools. Awards, renewable up to five years, consist of a cost-of-education allowance and an annual $25,000 personal stipend.
