  • The Gates Cambridge Scholarships

In 2000, the Gates Cambridge Scholarships were created by an endowment from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in order to provide a full scholarship to enable outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge.  The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to students who are top scholars, who demonstrate their potential as future leaders, and who indicate a commitment to apply their knowledge and skills to address challenges in their home country and abroad.  The Gates Cambridge Scholarships provide significant financial support to the graduate student during the degree program:

  • Full funding for the University Composition Fee and College fees
  • A maintenance allowance (£12,250 per year or approximately $25,000)
  • Airfare to and from the United Kingdom
  • Additional discretionary funding to support dependents at Cambridge (if applicable)
